weight- how to control it!

For the majority of women our image is a constant reminder of who we are as a woman.   Both obesity and anorexia effect many women of all ages.  According to the Australian Bureau of Statistics obesity has become a world-wide concern upon reaching epidemic proportions.  From the common image projected in mainstream media outlets our minds are confused and bewildered as to what is a “healthy” weight?  Some famous individual is either stick thin or piling on the pounds in the celebrity culture.  Have we actually forgotten what a healthy weight looks like?
I personally believe that weight control is over-complicated with a million diet plans that boggle the mind instantly and  an over-abundance of exercise regimes all promising quick, fast, easy results.  No wonder people get daunted and discouraged at even the prospect of attempting weight control!  I don’t think attaining a healthy weight should cost you excess money or time.  Although, the amount of effort and dedication you commit to your goal will equally determine the results.  Today I’m sharing 5 hints which won’t cost you a cent and the only requirements are a desire to obtain and maintain a healthy body weight.

Out of Sight – Out of Mind Practically speaking, this phase turned into reality can make such a difference.  Stop the temptation.  Remove it.  Don’t let it hide in your fridge waiting for that weak moment where you loose all self-control and give into impulse.  Remove it totally.  (i.e. bin it!) There is less chance of you not thinking about it if you can’t see it. Personally, If I know it's there I will not rest until I eat it, So throw it out and do not store it.

Replace the Bad with the GoodWe can be so eager and quick to remove the unhealthy, bad substances from our diet but all too soon we find they are weaving their way back in… Why and how does this happen?  We have removed the bad but never given it a replacement.  If you’re having trouble kicking an unhealthy substance, remove it but be sure to replace it with a healthier alternative.

Write a Shopping ListI think I’ve mentioned my love of lists before,  Ah, well there is even more benefits than just minimizing food waste and time management!  Shopping lists also allows to you to re-focus when you’re purposely skipping the confectionery aisle and guide you to better, healthier eating habits.

Cut the CarbsIf there was one, just one suggestion I would give to anyone wishing to regain control of their weight it would be to delete carbohydrates (i.e. sweets, soft drinks, breads and pastas)Try it temporarily.  3 weeks maybe?  You’ll feel much lighter, healthier and skinnier!  In reality, it’s not like you’re never going to eat bread or pasta again, but you’ll be surprised at how much better you feel when these highly processed items are minimized.

If You’re Really Serious. . .
All the above points are nice.  They can easily be slipped into your lifestyle as it is.  But for real weight-loss that can guarantee (oh, did I just say that?) the weight to slip off. Here is my secret…you need to make your choices a lifestyle.  Not just a fade that suits when it feels convenient but a way of life.  Continually, consciously making healthy eating choices everyday.  Eating healthy and well can and will become incredibly enjoyable and the mental and physical benefits will astound you.

happy eating. . . healthy.

another royal wedding...

It's absolutely no surprise to my readers that apart from being a total health freak I am an obsessed royalist and the biggest fan of lady Diana and her lovely daughter in law , Kate Middleton. There's something about women with grace and elegance that makes her incredible attractive and regal. Amongst my list of role models is definitely Grace Kelly, Audrey Hepburn, Jackie Kennedy, Lady Diana and Kate Middleton.  There is something about a women with ambition and elegance that captures attention and hearts even if she isn't the best looking, fortunately for these women they had it all including a wonderful dress sense.

I recently came across another royal wedding and had to introduce this regal women to you.

Surrounded by close friends and family American model, Kendra Spears married Prince Rahim Aga Khan,  in a traditional Muslim ceremony last week. Something about these pictures just rings Taj Mahal to me.

health conscious freak!!

Health conscious freak... yup that's me.

If you’re a health freak, you’re likely way ahead of the game when it comes to keeping yourself healthy and fit. You’re not satisfied with what mainstream medical experts tell you is good for you. You don’t go in for hype; you think outside the box. You know you are responsible for your own health.

Lately I have been going around in circles and indulging in fabulous but not so fit food. And its been making me feel super guilty, yet I have not really done much to change it. Albeit feeling super guilty for my blatant disregard for what I put into my body, I have finally seen the light of this unhealthy tunnel which I was power walking through and I'm happy to announce that I am BACK!!!

Not much damage has been done to my body considering that I was still active and involved in exercising, and lets be honest sometimes you just need the break to do and eat whatever you like, although I must admit at the back of my head I was always counting calories and always felt dreadful after indulging, NO ONE wants to feel that way after eating a glorious meal or snack, so lets I'm getting back to my healthy vicious eating ways and I hope you will be joining me!!

Remember to eat healthy, eat in moderation and exercise!!

10 commandments

We all want friendships that will last for eternity, don’t we? Follow these pointers and you’ll be blessed times over…

1. Speak to people — there is nothing as nice as a cheerful word of greeting.

2. Smile at people – it takes seventy-two muscles to frown and only fourteen to smile!

3. Call anyone by their name – the sweetest music to anyone’s ear is the sound of their own name.

4. Be friendly and helpful – if you would have friends, be friendly.

5. Be cordial – speak and act as if everything you do is a real pleasure.

6. Be genuinely interested in people – you can like everyone if you try.

7. Be generous with praise – cautious with criticism.

8. Be considerate of the feelings of others – it will be appreciated.

9. Be thoughtful of the options of others.

10. Be alert to give service – what counts most in life is what we do for others!

gratitude for being YOU!!

“Being tender and open is beautiful.
As a woman, I feel continually shhh’ed.
Too sensitive. Too mushy. Too wishy washy.
Don’t let someone steal your tenderness.
Don’t allow the coldness and fear of others to tarnish your perfectly vulnerable beating heart.
Nothing is more powerful than allowing yourself to truly be affected by things.
Whether it’s a song, a stranger, a mountain, a rain drop, a tea kettle, an article, a sentence, a footstep, feel it all – look around you.
All of this is for you.
Take it and have gratitude.
Give it and feel love.”
- Zooey Deschanel

what does happiness mean to you?

Happiness.  Everyone wants it, everyone seeks it.  But do all find true happiness?
What is happiness?  Is it the pursuit of dreams, hopes, ambitions and goals?  Or is it, as some may say ‘living in the moment’, never taking a day for granted and living life to the fullest.  For some its the love of a puppy, the joy of having a large, close-knit family, or according to some it is the reward of personal effort. The pursuit of happiness need not remain a mystery.  Ernest Hemming way once stated that “Happiness in intelligent people is the rarest thing I know.”
Perhaps these lines with unveil what happiness truly is…

“Our happiness depends upon [the] cultivation of love, sympathy and true courtesy to one another.”
E. White

“People are often unreasonable and self-centered. Forgive them anyway.
If you are kind, people may accuse you of ulterior motives. Be kind anyway.
If you are honest, people may cheat you. Be honest anyway.
If you find happiness, people may be jealous. Be happy anyway.
The good you do today may be forgotten tomorrow. Do good anyway.
Give the world the best you have and it may never be enough. Give your best anyway.
For you see, in the end, it is between you and God. It was never between you and them anyway.”
― Mother Teresa

“Happiness quite unshared can scarcely be called happiness; it has no taste.”
― Charlotte Bronte

“It isn’t what you have or who you are or where you are or what you are doing that makes you happy or unhappy. It is what you think about it.”
― Dale Carnegie

“Love is that condition in which the happiness of another person is essential to your own.”
― Robert A. Heinlein

“People are just as happy as they make up their minds to be.”
― Abraham Lincoln

“Let no one ever come to you without leaving better and happier. Be the living expression of God’s kindness: kindness in your face, kindness in your eyes, kindness in your smile.”
― Mother Teresa

“Generally speaking, the most miserable people I know are those who are obsessed with themselves; the happiest people I know are those who lose themselves in the service of others…By and large, I have come to see that if we complain about life, it is because we are thinking only of ourselves.”
― Gordon B. Hinckley

Those who are not looking for happiness are the most likely to find it, because those who are searching forget that the surest way to be happy is to seek happiness for others.”
― Martin Luther King Jr.

“I think happiness is what makes you pretty. Period. Happy people are beautiful. They become like a mirror and they reflect that happiness.”
― Drew Barrymore

“The happiness of your life depends upon the quality of your thoughts.”
― Marcus Aurelius

“Be so happy so that when others look at you – they become happy too.”

“Success is getting what you want, happiness is wanting what you get”
― W.P. Kinsella
